Virus, Spyware & Adware Removal

Virus and spyware removal is, by no means, an exact science.
Each case can be different, in the degree of infestation,
and the time it takes to rid your computer of these pesky suckers.

If you would like to talk to me about protecting your
system or network, feel free to contact me.

In-House Service $15/hr

You can bring your computer to me or I can pick it up.
There is a $10 fee if I pick it up or bring it back to you, $15 for both.
(GAS PRICES)

For in-house service I charge by the time spent on the computer,
and not for the time it takes to run the various scans.

I prefer to do this type of work at my office as each
method of scanning your computer takes a while,
and I can do other work during that time.

Onsite Service $20/hr
$20 service call fee for me to come out, which will be applied toward your total fees.

I can come to your location to work on your computer,
but charge by the total time spent there.

Dr. Computer Fixer's
Recommended Arsenal for Protection from
Viruses, Trojans, Spyware and Adware:

(for Windows XP and 2000)

I recommend that you don't rely on just one program to protect your computer. It's best to have an arsenal of protection. Having multiple programs and using other preventative tactics helps protect you from the most invaders, as not any one program finds everything.
It's not necessary to have a bunch of programs running all the time,
or even to buy any programs, but regular scans with your arsenal
will help reduce your risk, and keep your computer clean.

Spybot

AdAware

Windows Defender

TrendMicro Free Online Scan

BitDefender Free Online Scan

Windows Update - always keep your computer up-to-date
with the latest security patches, etc. from Microsoft.

Windows Firewall - ON

Don't let other people use your computer unattended.

If you use a file sharing program such as Bearshare or LimeWire,
it is essential that you scan your downloads
for viruses before using them.

Don't use add-on toolbars for your browser, such as yahoo toolbar, mysearch bar, etc.....they are adware/spyware, they track you.

Use Firefox for your browser instead of Internet Explorer.
It has a LOT of nifty features.
(add-ons for Firefox are OK as long as you get them through Mozilla)

Using the programs and tactics listed here is by no means
a guarantee that you won't ever get a virus.
It is just a highly effective method, and is the one that I use.
